Operation Gathering Mission Statement:
We, as fans of Tolkien, came together in fellowship during the weekend of July 1st through July 4th, 2006.  We all have memories to cherish.  We came together to celebrate the professor's work, and to celebrate Fellowship.  Being thus committed to supporting The Gathering of the Fellowship - an event created by fans and dedicated to raising the awareness of Tolkien in the cause of adult literacy through the donation of proceeds to ProLiteracy Worldwide - Operation Gathering was created.  An unincorporated association with the goals of becoming a not-for-profit society, Operation Gathering has assembled for purposes of raising funds and interest in The Gathering of the Fellowship.  Unfortunately, so many expenses were not covered due to registrations not meeting intended targets.  We at Operation Gathering have decided, rather that dissolve our fellowship, we will continue to help the endeavors of The Gathering of the Fellowship, and in so doing we will continue to seek donations, and raise funds to help alleviate the outstanding costs of running such an event.  In this way, we hope that our sponsorship of The Gathering of the Fellowship will lead to increased awareness of the event and the building of community spirit among Tolkien fans.

Note: Operation Gathering is an independent group cooperating with The Gathering of the Fellowship, but not directed by it.  All donations go directly to an account set aside for programming related expenses and will be directly sent to meet those needs.
PLEASE NOTE - All donations are non-refundable.
